FALL ON HIGH WAISTED

For so many years I’ve been wearing high waisted pants that shouldn’t have a high rise. At home I was always mocked every now and then because when I woke up I would wear my PJ shorts very high. I guess I’ve been adopting this trend for long, right? Little me knew very well this trend was going to come back one day. After so many years of men using low boot cuts and low rise pants we find ourselves going vintage and back to the 80s where men dominated high waisted pants and jeans.
We do have to acknowledge ladies rock this style too and they’ve been using it spot on for a few years now currently, however I think this generation of Millennials may have forgotten us, men, we wore the high waisted for good and we owned it. This trend is much more comfortable than skinny jeans and slim fit pants, but why not find a perfect High-waisted and slim fit style? The elegance behind this style allows you to style it perfectly with a simple long sleeve shirt and a pair of monk shoes.

FIRST STEP TO FALL

Sometimes I find myself resisting to transition into fall. I come from a very tropical climate, Dominican Republic you guys know. After moving to Miami to finish my studies the climate didn’t vary much and there is never a need for a lot of layering, not even in winter. Now, I’m traveling and relocating, I find myself in New York and this is not going to be the same.
So, how do I start transitioning into fall when you’re always used to never layering and wearing shorts? Well, the easiest way I found was to start applying fall colors into your outfits and putting the t-shirts away. Right now it is not a season for shorts but trust me, it paid off. Here I am putting away my t-shirts and pulling out a white long sleeves shirt. Long-sleeves, this is the first step to fall. Next, burgundy! I decided to wear my last shorts and since burgundy is a fall tone I went for it, matching it with a pair of Dolce sneakers that I love!

SHANGHAI & HONG KONG

hk

I finally did it! I’ve been talking Asia for so long that now it came true. I went all the way to Shanghai & Hong Kong to discover two very different sides of China. Shanghai was more of a historical experience. Visiting Old Shanghai and Yu Gardens was exactly how we viewed China in the movies of Bruce Lee or Karate Kid when we were young. The culture is so rich, I didn’t understand a word but you can see how people really are proud of their own identity. It was really funny how they viewed us as so very beautiful human beings because we were so different to what they are used to see, in some cities they rarely see international tourists so when they bump into you, they even ask for pictures sometimes. The food, I would only eat BBQ pork Dim Sums, I’m sorry, I just loved them.
Places to visit? Historically: Yu Gardens, Old Shanghai, Xin Tian Di, and Tian Zi Fang.
Places to eat? El Willy, Hakkasan, Mercato, Mr & Mrs Bund, Everywhere in the BUND and Xin Tian Di.
Place to dance and with a view? Definitely has to be Bar Rouge.
Hong Kong on the other hand was my favorite. It is so very like New York, fast-paced, advanced, metro life, professional. I fell in love with this place. The first day when I arrived to the W Hotel, I couldn’t go out until the next morning, there was no need to. I said to myself, this is home. I felt so welcomed to this place, the vibe was so young, fresh and the view on the rooftop pool was to die for. I was lucky enough to capture the entire sunset and sip some bellini in the water. The malls, are for real hardcore shoppers, if you don’t consider yourself one, don’t try them!
Touristic places to visit should be the beautiful view and restaurants at Victoria Peak where you can see the whole city from over 500 meters off ground from the tram station. Also, the crazy streets of endless bars in Lan Kwai Fong is a must. The upward and downward labyrinth streets at Soho are crazy with an amazing shopping experience near the financial district.
I went to have dinner to this amazing restaurant at the Ritz Carlton, right next to our hotel. The restaurant was awarded 2 Michelin Stars, it’s called Tosca and it has an exquisite Italian cuisine.
As some of you already saw, I ended this great trip in a happy place, Hong Kong Disneyland! This was by far my favorite city and I was so excited to show you guys how totally worth it China and Hong Kong could be.

Our second spot was Playa Blanca in Punta Cana. We happened to stop by this good sea food restaurant near the beach where I took off my sneakers and just walked a while in the beautiful sand while also taking snaps of the colorful houses in the shore and the view overall.

GRADUATED

SMLXL

FINALLY! One milestone achieved, I graduated! It’s been a while since I haven’t posted because I was moving out from my apartment and traveling a bit for work and fun. I know, I know, that’s not an excuse but trust me, moving out is the worst thing ever. I didn’t know I had so much stuff until I had to pack everything.
My family came over from Dominican Republic and we went to Vegas, had a lot of fun, partied a bit, met amazing people, worked a few days and won a jackpot in the slot machines, what more could I ask? Well, to top everything I got my degree in Bachelor’s for Business Administration, Double Major in International Business and Marketing with a 3.80 GPA Magna Cum Laude! YEEEEEEES!!! After four years of hard work in Dominican Republic and Miami I finally slayed that college life and made myself and my family proud.
A little background info, I am the first and only son of my parents to obtain a college degree and to study abroad. This made everything more special to me and to my parents, and siblings. I can’t describe the pride I felt as I wore my cap, gown and honors chord. I sat with my closest friends in the ceremony and we were all saying to each other, now what? Well, I do know what I’m doing and I already started out my adulthood journey professionally and personally (You will know soon)!
I walked on that stage and all I did was look over to the crowd and smile thinking: “finally, I got this”, this is for everyone that believed in me, supported me and help me reach this point in life. So, let’s talk about what I did after. I went to have lunch with friends, their families and mine to one of my favorite restaurants in Brickell, Crazy About You (MUST). Food was amazing, the champagne was even better and the jokes and stories made our time there worth it.
Next stop! SUGAR Rooftop at the newest addition to Brickell’s hotels, The East Hotel. This rooftop is everything and a bit more. The view to the city is the best in town and the cocktails are great, they even have another one in Hong Kong (Maybe I should visit that one too very soon ;)). Then we took off to my favorite Mexican restaurant for dinner and some margaritas. Later on, I don’t want to tell you more but there were a few drinks already down my system and all I wanted to do was dance, really, like dance!
To me this day was one of my favorite days ever, the feeling of being graduated is scary yet exciting. Thankfully I know what my path is and I know it also involves you guys! I am so grateful for so many blessings in life and all that I have I owe it to God, family, friends and supporters.
Here I leave you with some pictures of my graduation, family pictures which I rarely post, some with friends and then my FAVORITE OOTD for my grad day!
